    Minns on your computer, and a browser your assistant uses while you watch.

    The desktop app is Minns in a window of its own. When a job needs a website that should see your own computer, your assistant can work in a browser window inside the app, step by step in front of you, but only if you have said it may.

    01 · Install and sign in

    Download, sign in, and the computer is linked.

    Download the app from Minns: a .dmg for Mac, an .exe for Windows, an AppImage for Linux. The download page picks the right one for the computer you are on.

    Sign in as you do on the web and the computer is linked to you, with no code to type. Sign out and it is unlinked. Signing in again from the same install does not add a second computer, and the app keeps itself up to date.

    • The app holds a key that proves only that this is your linked computer. It cannot read your account.
    • Remove the computer from Minns and the app is cut off at once.
    • On a phone, the download page lists all three so you can pick the one for your computer.
    02 · A browser on your computer

    For the jobs that should come from your computer, not a server.

    Some sites are happier when you visit from your own connection: a supplier portal, a trade account, a council system. With the desktop app, your assistant can work in a browser window inside the app, on your computer, and you watch every click as it happens.

    It is a separate browser from the one you use every day, with its own sign ins, so it never sees your everyday tabs or history. It can only browse: it cannot open your files or run anything on your computer.

    • Never typed: card numbers. Card details are hidden from what your assistant reads.
    • A button that submits or pays is pressed only after you approve it.
    • Files are uploaded only from a link, never from a folder on your computer.
    • Your router, printer and other devices on your network are out of its reach.

    03 · Your say

    Never, ask each time, or always: chosen for each assistant.

    Nothing uses your computer until you choose. For each assistant you pick Never, Ask each time or Always. Never is where it starts. With Ask each time, the first step of a task asks you, and a yes holds for that task only.

    Only a task you started can use your computer: never a scheduled job, never a team's job. If the computer is off, asleep, stopped or you said no, your assistant uses its browser in the cloud instead.

    • Press Stop in the app and your assistant is told to stop.
    • Each step checks again that the computer is still yours and still allowed.
    • Up to ten computers per person.

    Who decides

    It does the work. You make the calls.

    What the assistant may do on its own, and what only you, or someone you choose, may do.

    The assistant may

    • Work in the browser window inside the app, while it is open and you have allowed it.
    • Ask you first for each task, when you chose Ask each time.
    • Fill in a saved sign in on the site it belongs to.

    Only you may

    • Choose whether an assistant may use your computer at all.
    • Approve a button that submits a form or pays.
    • Type a card number.
    • Press Stop, sign out, or remove the computer.
    Questions owners ask first

    Straight answers.

    Can it read the files on my computer?
    No. It can only use the browser window inside the app. It cannot open your files or run programs, and uploads come only from a link.
    Does it use my everyday browser?
    No. The app has its own browser with its own sign ins, so your everyday tabs, history and passwords are not part of it.
    What happens when my computer is off?
    Your assistant uses its browser in the cloud instead, as it would without the app.
    How do I unlink a computer?
    Sign out in the app, or remove the computer in minns. Either way the app is cut off at once.
